About Us & Contacts
Hey, I’m Michael, the person behind TemplateTester.
If you’re expecting some professional designer with five monitors and color-coded Post-it notes… yeah, that’s not me.
I got into websites years ago basically by accident. I tried building a small site, messed it up, fixed it, messed it up again (honestly lost count), and somehow ended up spending the next decade working on different projects. Along the way I built or helped build a bunch of sites including anonymster.com, vpnmag.fr, getraccoonsout.com, and pipmyourpups.com just to mention some. Each one taught me something new, usually after a mistake or two that I now pretend were “experiments.”
I’m not a coder, and I don’t pretend to be. But I do know what it feels like to try a new template, theme, or builder and wonder why the “easy setup” takes three hours and breaks your header. That’s basically why this site exists: to help normal humans choose tools that actually work in the real world.
How We test things (in short):
Whenever I or my team test a website builder, a hosting provider, a WP template, whatever, we usually install it on one of my actual sites if possible. Other times, we create a demo website to test the tool. No fancy testing lab. Just real websites, real content, real headaches.
I check things like:
- Is it actually easy to use, or am I fighting the interface?
- Does it add real value or is it just marketing fluff?
- How fast does the site load after setup (sometimes surprisingly slow…)
- Does the layout break once I add plugins or real content?
Sometimes I also ask friends or colleagues who use these tools daily because they’re usually quicker to notice things I overlook, especially when I’m half-tired and pushing buttons randomly hoping something fixes itself.
And About Reviews
Yes, some links on this site are affiliate links. No, they don’t change my opinion. I don’t care enough to pretend something is good when it’s obviously not, and honestly, readers can smell BS anyway.
I’m here to keep things simple and honest. If something’s good, I’ll tell you. If it’s confusing, slow, overpriced, or just bad… you’ll hear that probably too loudly.
If you’ve got questions, ideas, or you want to complain about a tool that annoyed you, feel free to send a message. I read everything (eventually), and either I or someone from the small-but-real TemplateTester team will get back to you.
If you’re starting your first website, check out my guides:
They are simple, beginner-friendly, and based on what I wish I had known before breaking my first three sites.
